'Tis The Season

Okay, I know I said the other day I wasn't quite ready to think about Christmas yet but this idea popped into my head while I was making yesterday's zombie card and I couldn't resist! It also gives me a chance to play along with the Holiday Card Challenge at the Moxie Fab World.  I have a coworker who I know is going to snatch this up the minute she sees it although it's one of those I almost want to keep.  Is it wrong to love one of your own cards so much that you don't want to let it go?

Nom Nom Nom!

I'm continuing along with the Halloween theme here today.  Sweet Stamp Shop has a hilarious stamp set called Zombies which I just had to get!  Between The Walking Dead, World War Z (the book was awesome - haven't seen the movie) and that Sprint commercial, zombies are everywhere!  I used Nance's sketch from The Paper Players for my layout and then had some fun colouring in my zombie dude.  Hope you all have a lovely zombie-free day!

Mornin' mornin'!  I've got a card for two challenges today - Dynamic Duos and CAS on Sunday.  I haven't gotten the new Stampin' Up In Colours yet so I had to substitute for the Crisp Cantaloupe.  I played around with my Paper Smooches Reflections stamps and dies and added a Lawn Fawn banner and sentiment.  I used VersaMark ink to stamp the flowers onto the die cuts - love that tone on tone look!

CASology #59

Welcome to Week 59 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

I.  Love.  Books.  In fact, I'd say I'm a bit of a book junkie.  I still have books that I bought as far back as 1996 that I haven't gotten around to reading yet.  (Can't let them go until I've read them).  I tend to buy books faster than I read them (much like crafting supplies but that's another story...).  I can't get into the whole Kindle thing.  I love the feel and smell of a real book.  It might be a bit more bulk to carry around but I wouldn't have it any other way.

My card today kind of has two meanings.  When I made it I was thinking of back to school and the reaction I used to have after that first trip of the year to the campus bookstore.  Was I really going to get through all of that in one semester??  On the other hand, this is pretty much Luis's reaction when we get to the check out counter at a book store!  LOL!  :D  He'll usually spend a bit of time trying to convince me that perhaps I don't need all of them but in the end he'll sigh and say, "If you want them then you have to carry them."  :)

So what about you?  Are you a book junkie?  What does the cue make you think of?  Check out the other gorgeous DT creations and then show us what you got!

A Little Bit Brighter

***This is my second post of the day.  For my ColourQ/Seize the Birthday post please scroll down or click here.***

Hi again!  Back with my second card for today.  This is a triple play card.  I was inspired by the stripes and bright colors on Jennifer McGuire's CASE Study card.  Then I found Iwona's Sketchbook Saturday sketch which had similar stripes and I thought the layout would work perfectly for the bird on it's branch.  Finally I wanted to play along with the Paper Crafts Connection August Gallery Challenge - Sending Sunshine.  I used a paint sample strip which I noticed afterwards had the perfect names - Downey Chick, Sunnyside Up and Golden Path!  That's it for me tonight.  See you tomorrow!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Primrose Petals, Tempting Turquoise, Early Espresso) Stampin' Up
Stamp:  (Sentiment from Rainbow & Cloud Sentiments) Lil' Inker Designs
Ink:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Meadow Bird, Grove Branch) Memory Box

Triangle Birthday

How is it Monday again already?  And the last Monday of August no less! Craziness.  This year is just flying by.  I managed to spend a few hours in the Craft Cave today and made a couple of cards.  With this card I'm playing along with ColourQ and Seize the Birthday.  Like everyone else, I always seem to be short on masculine cards so I thought the ColourQ colours and these Sweet Stamp Shop triangles would make for a great guy card.  Love the fun patterns in the triangles and the variety of sizes in the set.  Back again in a bit with my next card!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Lucky Limeade, Pacific Point, Island Indigo, Early Espresso) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Triangles Style) Sweet Stamp Shop, (Sentiment from CL340) Hero Arts

...and Moxie Fab White

Back again with my second Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger entry.  After dithering so much about the card base colour for my first card I definitely wanted to go white for this card.  When I first saw the Trigger I immediately thought of this particular patterned paper of which I only had a scrap remaining.  Thankfully it was just enough for this Sweet Stamp Shop teapot!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill
Stamps:  (Teapot from Afternoon Delight) Sweet Stamp Shop, (Sentiment from Lunar Lights) Lawn Fawn
Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Peacock Feathers Distress Ink) Ranger
Embossing Powder:  (Clear) Ranger

Moxie Fab Bright...

How sweet is the little teacup that Cath chose for this week's Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger?  I love the colourful flowers and I wanted to create an equally cheery teacup.  I pulled out some patterned paper of unknown origin and stamped and embossed this big ol' Market Street Stamps cup.  I struggled a bit with placement and sentiment but finally settled on this arrangement.  I dithered for ages about the colour of the card base.  Initially I was going to go white as I figured it would make the bright colours really pop but I finally decided that this Island Indigo really made the cup colours feel that much richer.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo, Pool Party) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Teacup from Enjoy Today) Market Street Stamps, (Steam from Coffee Cozy) Lil Inker Designs, (Sentiment from Hot Concoctions) Paper Smooches

Birthday Carousel

Good evening, all!  Popping in with a card for two challenges - Curtain Call and the Colour Throwdown.  I did some solid colour paper piecing for this one cursing myself all the way for choosing such fiddly images! LOL!  I like the final result though so it's worth a few naughty words. Thankfully Atticus is the only one to hear them...  Hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

CAS(E) This Sketch #42

Welcome to Week 42 of CAS(E) This Sketch!  Take a look at this week's sketch by N@ Ali:

I love this week's sketch - simple and fun with so many possibilities!  I pulled out my (sadly retired) So 80s set from WPlus9 and embossed this cool paint splodge with neon Zing powder.  I love the little tiny stars at the edges of it so I carried on the star theme with some Lifestyle Crafts nesting star dies.  Clean, crisp and to the point!  Can't wait to see all your entries this week but first, hop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch blog and see what else the fabulous ladies of the DT have come up with!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Basic Grey, Basic Black) Stampin' Up, (Turquoise)

Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Cricket Zing) American Crafts

Rose Coloured Gratitude

Happy Friday!  Just gotta get through a 12 hour shift and then I can chill for the weekend.  Whoop whoop! For now I'm popping in with a card for the latest Muse challenge.  How gorgeous is Marion's card?  I love the ombre colours and the touch of pattern from the polka dots.  Originally I planned mine to be a one layer card but I wasn't having much luck with the inks I was using and ended up with a lot of blotchy images.  Instead, I stamped the vases onto coloured cardstock with the same coloured ink, fussy cut them and attached them with Pop Dots.  I used a straw image for the shelf because I thought the stripes added a bit of pattern in the same way the polka dots do on Marion's card.  This is definitely one of those cards that I could make in multiple colours and use for a gift set.  Maybe one of these days I'll actually get around to making all these sets I keep thinking about!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Regal Rose, Melon Mambo) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Vases, flower and stripes from Crystal Clear, Sentiment from Chit Chat) Paper Smooches
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Blushing Bride, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Melon Mambo) Stampin' Up

Baby Squared

Good morning, all!  I was recently asked to make a card for someone who had twins and I thought the colours for this week's Dynamic Duos would work perfectly for it.  Initially I was a bit worried that the black base might be a bit heavy for a baby card but then I remembered this skull and crossbones baby card I made and I went with it.  There's something for everyone!  Since I was making this I decided to make a girl card too.  Gotta cover all the bases!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Pretty In Pink, Regal Rose, Pool Party, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Sn@p! Colour Vibe) Simple Stories
Stamps:  (Bears &  blocks from Baby Basics) Market Street Stamps, (2 from Jessie's ABCs) Lawn Fawn

CASology #58

Welcome to Week 58 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

I love paper!  Especially in fun little notebooks.  I have tons of them that I have collected over the years.  You can't have too many right?  There's always lists to be made and notes to be jotted so a notebook in every room is the way to go.  :D  For my card I stamped the sheets of note paper, punched out the holes and snipped them to look like they'd been torn out of a notebook.  This is kind of how my office feels sometimes - paper floating everywhere!  I can't wait to see where the cue word takes you all this week - so many possibilities!  Check out the designs from the DT and then get to work!

Happy Blooms

Hello again!  Popping in with another colour challenge card - this time for ColourQ.  I used my Paper Smooches' Bold Blooms stamps for the first time here - NBUS score!  I love that multi circle stamp - such a cool pattern.  I also broke out the Stickles which haven't seen much action in a while. That's it for me tonight.  It's almost time for my Monday night TV marathon.  It's pretty much the only night I regularly watch stuff - American Ninja Warrior, Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls and Siberia.  Anyone else watching any of these??

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Real Red, Daffodil Delight, So Saffron) Stampin' Up
Stamp:  (Flowers from Bold Blooms, Sentiment from Simply Said) Paper Smooches
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Glitter:  (Xmas Red Stickles) Ranger

Striped Bonanza!

Hi there!  I've got a rather bright and bold card today.  I'm playing along with the challenge at the Colour Throwdown.  I was rather fixated on the stripes in the photo so I decided to create my own.  I started out by trying to stamp them but that didn't go so well (cue lots of bad words!) so I cut strips of patterned paper and layered them instead.  The Papertrey Ink sentiment fit perfectly in the white space and the flower pretty much made itself!  Hope you've all had a lovely day!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point) Stampin' Up
Stamp:  (Sentiment from Big & Bold Wishes) Papertrey Ink

CAS(E) This Sketch #41

Welcome to Week 41 of CAS(E) This Sketch!  Take a look at this week's sketch by Chrissy Larson:

I used the colours from this week's Paper Players challenge to help me out with my sketch this week. I don't have the new Stampin' Up In Colours yet so I found some relatively close substitutes.  I also pulled out this old Woodware Pop Flower punch that I've had for ages.  Love the funky retro look of it!  I also love to see what you guys come up with when you play along so hop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch blog, check out the DT inspiration and then join in the fun!

Birthday Balloons

Good morning!  I'm popping in with a simple one layer card for Lawnscaping's One Layer challenge. I almost dismissed this challenge completely as my cards usually consist of paper piecing and lots of dimensional adhesive.  However, after some pondering, I came up with this.  I stamped the colours with the back side of the balloon stamp and then stamped the outline on top.  I added the strings in a light shade of grey and then finished it with this sentiment from Grand Greetings.  I really must make more one layer cards.  They're so mail friendly and also easier on the hands - no cramped fingers from too much fussy cutting!  :D

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill
Stamps:  (Balloon from Admit One, Sentiment from Grand Greetings) Lawn Fawn
Ink:  (VersaFine Onyx Black, Memento London Fog) Tsukineko, (Rose Red, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum) Stampin' Up
